Vanderbilt

Today was the day for my visit to Vanderbilt University.  Vanderbilt and Melbourne have a a "strategic international partnership". You can read more about it.www.vanderbilt.unimelb.edu.au/partnership

When I knew my visit to Nashville was coming up I organised a visit to the library at Vanderbilt. www.library.vanderbilt.edu

I left the hotel and walked across the road to catch the number 7 bus to Vanderbilt.  Dobe's 20 trip bus pass from a couple of years ago worked and within 15 minutes I was getting off the bus right outside the library.

I met 3 of the senior staff, had a tour of the recent library renovations and spent some time talking to the staff.   We discovered that each of our libraries face similar issues, no surprise there.

Lunch at the University club, some more conversation and then back on the bus.

The library has an active exhibition schedule, employs students to work on special projects and is making imaginative use of its archive of TV News.

I'll write a report for the University Librarian when I get home.
